“To make a mountain of…your life is just a choice. But I never learned enough...to listen to the voice that told me...always love”
The amazing nurses, docs, RTs, staff, everyone, they all put down brick by brick our path to healing. They provided us the best case of the worst case scenario...
Trying to put how amazing our team at Randall’s was into words is impossible because there are no words within the English language capable of expressing how amazing, wonderful, caring, loving, and kind they were... no words can do them justice.
As a critical care nurse, myself, I understand the emotional tole these type of circumstances can have on healthcare workers. When faced with such an emotional situation, you have a choice to be fully engage or respectfully stay quite and give space while carrying out the necessities of patient care. I thank God for our nurses! They were all were fully engaged and supported us through this horrific journey, making each day more memorable and providing us with love and special moments and memories made with our girl and family. Each nurse brought something so special each day and was exactly the right thing at the right time.
The RT’s were so caring and helpful. They took the time to assist when we wanted to hold Emma. We can still feel the weight of our angel in our arms thanks to their compassion and patiences. We will
never again take for granted the awesome privilege of simply holding our children.
Palliative care and child life were so vital to our healing and our experiences. We couldn’t have done it without their knowledge, love and care. Ms. L and Mrs. A served as our courage. We were consumed with uncertainty and fear. They expertly assuaged our anxieties. With clear minds and open hearts, we were able to embrace the days with Emma. Without them this would have not been possible.
The Organ transplant team was phenomenal. They went above and beyond caring for our Emma and for us. They moved heaven and earth for our sweet daughter and showed us the deepest compassion.
Dr. C - an amazing man, who we truly believe was placed on our path by God, helped us processes and got us to a place where we could let our sweet daughter gain her wings. He was on for 5 of the days Emma was there. He was not supposed to be on that long and we thank God that he was able to help us and our Emma through most of her time here on this earth.
Each of our healers deserves their own post. And they will all be honored as we write week after week and journey on this path of healing. We have so much to say and so much gratitude to give. Like we said, words don’t do them justice.
With the deepest gratitude,
Katie and Brad Richardson
