The World Keeps Turning

Dear Emma,

As the days go by the world moves on for everyone. You can only say I’m sorry so many times and then some people don’t know what to say. The calls, texts, and visits grow fewer. People are around but say nothing. The silence is lonely. At times, all the energy I have is only enough to just get up, be present, and simply function.

It takes an extra effort to be engaged, be social, or be a part of a group setting. It takes a lot of effort for me to talk with others and it’s so much easier when they get things started. A hi, hello, how’s it going, or even a direct comment about you would make things easier and be wonderful. Anything is better then silence.

You are always on our mind and someone talking about you is nice and doesn’t make anything worse as they might fear. As the days tick by the harder it actually gets. You would be 3 months old now... Just always trying to remember our precious days we had with you. (There are a number of people who have been beyond kind to still reach out and check on us and we appreciate them so much.)
